In 2022, Health New Zealand contracted the New Zealand College of Sexual and Reproductive Health (NZCSRH) to provide long-acting reversible contraceptives (LARC) training support. LARCs are the most modern and effective reversible forms of contraception. The aim of this initiative is to increase workforce capability in primary care and improve access to LARCs.
As part of this contract, NZCSRH are providing train-the-trainer courses in LARC procedures for health practitioners who are competent in these procedures as per the Long-Acting Reversible Contraception: Health Practitioner Training Principles and Standards, and want to train others.
NZCSRH are working in co-operation with the Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners to provide this LARC training service.
